Our group began meeting in October of 2010. With most of our original members coming from Vacaville and nearby Dixon, we called ourselves the Tea Party Patriots Vacaville-Dixon. As time passed, people began coming from Davis, Winters, Fairfield, Benicia, and beyond. We wanted the name of our group to reflect this broader base, hence our new name, Vaca Valley Tea Party.
Our focus is on Three Core Values: Constitutionally Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility, and Support of Free Markets. We pledge ourselves to remain NON-PARTISAN. Our group does NOT endorse candidates. Our purpose is to attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values.
In 2011, in an effort to promote education, especially about the importance of Our U.S. Constitution, we hosted two all day seminars led by Bill Norton from the National Center of Constitutional Studies. In 2012 we joined with other community groups to sponsor a Constitution Week Essay Contest for 7th-12th grade students in our local area. Over $400.00 in prizes were awarded to local students. Prizes were also awarded winning schools and teachers of 1st place winners. In 2013, we are expanding the Constitution Week Essay Contest to all of Solano County, and cash awards will amount to $750.00.
We maintain a Patriot Library with books and periodicals which our members can check out, read, and pass on.
We encourage citizen participation in government at every level. Our Democratic-Republic form of government is a Participation Based endeavor if it is to succeed.
We invite all who share our core values to join us, become engaged in the effort to make a lasting positive impact on our country's future.
